Homeopathy is a system of medicine developed nearly 200 years ago by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann. It is an effective and scientific system of healing which recognizes that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person. Treating the whole person is an essential aspect of classical homeopathy. The premise is that symptoms and diseases are a reflection of how the whole person (body and mind) is coping with the stress that is causing disease
Homeopathic medicine stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal. Many health complaints that we experience correct themselves unaided; however, when our body’s healing process is faulty or overwhelmed, homeopathic medicine can act as a stimulus for the body’s ability to heal. In order to provide the appropriate stimulus, Dr. Mercer must prescribe the correct homeopathic remedy and the right dosage for you. This medicine can result in very profound and positive changes in one’s health and is a great resource for patients who have had little or no success with conventional treatments. Homeopathics are a very safe form of medicine. They don’t interact with medications or supplements, have no known side effects, and never become addictive.
What will the treatment be like?
After taking an in-depth comprehensive health history, Dr. Mercer will determine the specific homeopathic that is right for you. Often, homeopathic medicine is given in the form of a pill which you will place under your tongue and allow to dissolve. Dr. Mercer will instruct you on how often and for how long you should take the medicine. The duration of therapy varies greatly from person to person. Typically, slow developing symptoms, such as a stomach ulcer, will not disappear overnight. Complaints with a more rapid onset of symptoms usually heal more quickly.
Dr. Mercer has extensive training in Classical Homeopathy. She completed professional homeopathic programs through the New England School of Homeopathy and National College of Natural Medicine. Call today to make an appointment – 541.516.1045.
